Discussions ona Double Taxation Agreement Between Oman and Malta

Discussions between the Sultanate of Oman and Malta on the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income were held in Malta from 1st to 3rd December 2008. A delegation from the Ministry of Finance in Oman met a Maltese delegation from the Inland Revenue Department.

Negotiations were conducted in a friendly atmosphere of mutual understanding, and agreement was reached on most proposals stipulated in the draft text. A number of other clauses remain open for further discussions. For this purpose, a follow up meeting will be held in the near future.

The Maltese Embassy in Riyadh was instrumental in promoting the start of negotiations on this Agreement, since it believes that its conclusion will further strengthen bilateral ties which exist between the two countries.
